A light at the end of the tunnel ?

Jeezus what a weird day…….. rolled out after what was actually a fairly decent night’s sleep for a change…… lots of big gray clouds and evidence of a previous apparently decent rain shower before I got up.  Slow easy start to what turned into a trying taxing kind of day, dealing with people who just did not ‘get’ what I was trying to talk to them about – but after multiple tries….. almost everything has worked out or at least leaning in that direction. First part of the morning was dealing with financial stuff, which turned into a bigger pain in the touchas than I wanted to deal with – but finally got everything hammered out and on track…… really not that bad – I just hate doing it.  A wonderfully [overpowering] brunch by my Queen…. and then onto the next challenge…. Getting our patios door fixed. Texts and emails brought zero response from the group holding our patio door fix hostage….. I finally broke down and called them. (If you fully understood the challenge of talking with these folks, you’d ‘get’ why I don’t want to physically actually talk to them) — After an aggravating several minutes on the phone with them – I think we are getting our doors worked on (and supposedly finished) tomorrow~!  I also think – our truck goes into (and supposedly OUT of) the shop tomorrow~!!! I still need to confirm that with the young lady managing that whole thing. We still would have to get the rental cleaned [we have been smoking in it]  OOps 😉  and returned to the airport….  buuuuuut — the good Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise…. by Monday after noon, our lives might return to some semblance of normalcy~~ Boy I sure hope so – because nothing has been ‘right’ since we got back from the states.

In between all that hooey we have started watching a new series.. The Closer… we liked it right off of the bat~! Kinda like Bosch….. about 6 episodes into it now – and we look forward to each new episode~!!

Had an awesome little thunderstorm roll through just after lunch…. pretty sure I have said it before, but the thunder is just amazing here – because one good clap just goes on forever as it rolls out across the water. I suspicion because there are no hills or trees or buildings to bounce off of — it just goes and goes and goes. Beautiful~! Only about the third thunderstorm we’ve had since we’ve been here, so it adds a little extra pleasure for me to get to listen to it.

About it…… tomorrow should be interesting as they are supposed to come and take our doors “back to the shop” to work on….. which means leaving a large gaping hole in our living room. I have already come up with a temporary ‘door situation’ while ours are gone – hopefully keeping out the constant barrage of salt we get from the Caribbean…. AWEEEE….. I know – right ??  😉  I’ll take pictures~~

Good Night Ya’ll ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Thankx for stopping in~!

Well – here we are……

Hump day….. that magic middle of the week day that everyone (who works for a living) wants to get past. For those of us lucky enough to no longer have to toil to eek out a living…. it’s mostly just another day. Rolled out much to early after a pitiful nights sleep followed shortly by my Bride who apparently didn’t do much better than I did. I spent several hours counting money, which while is a lot of fun – looses something in the translation when you don’t get to keep any of it. I was getting a last accurate count for the money we took in on the Fish With A Vet USVI Corn Hole tournament. Very happy to say we generated just over $5300 and by the time expenses came out – we did indeed clear just over $4500.00~!! Pretty salty for an organization as small as ours currently is~! Got everything bundled up and then ran out to the bank to deposit it all. The bank experience was almost like being back stateside….. it was almost an enjoyable experience.

Got back here and worked on a new little venture we’re dabbling in and then settled in on the couch for some TV time. We finished up the one season series called Homecoming….. that finally turned to a pretty decent series that we both enjoyed. We started another one today called Forever….. another 1 season show…. mostly stupid but we just finished it and neither of us are upset about it being over – I have created a pretty good little list of shows to check out – plus the ones Ya’ll have been suggesting – so we’re looking forward to finding our next series soon.

Really about it…. a lot of time being spent here in the house this week, trying to get doors fixed and hopefully our truck on Friday~!! So no new pictures – so sharing some from days gone by for now……

Good night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!

Doors and friends and Biscuits and Gravy~~~

Hello all — been quite the adventure the past day or so……. folks actually showed up a little before their appointed time to work on the doors~!! Ermazing~!! They set right into work and wasn’t at it 5 minutes before announcing they didn’t have the right rollers…… ah yes – that would be island life slapping us right on the kisser~! Another couple of minutes revealed the entire bottom of the door was caked in salt (on the inside) and even though it was a fairly decent grade aluminum was eaten mostly away and the bottom piece needed to support the rollers broke in half as they tried to remove it. This just gets better and better. They needed to take a set of rollers with them – so I said take a set from the other door (that we never use) so we can still get in and out. So they popped the other door off just to find it in the same condition. They tried to put the first door back together – but couldn’t because there was nothing left to attached the rollers to…. lovely…… just friggin lovely~! They did a little ‘engineering’ and managed to get the rollers to stay on and got both doors back up on their tracks. The tracks are FUBAR’d too, but they were confident they could fix them once the rollers are fixed. The cleaned up their mess and said they’d be back in touch to let us know how long it would be to get new rollers. Yeah….. sure…….

After they left, I wanted to go to the post office and get my new air fryer~! We cleaned up and headed up and picked up my new toy. Healthy (well… healthier) eating here I come~! Got it and needed to stop by Blues to get a signature and drop off some paper work to them…. well…… you know how that turned out. Back late to the condo and not long before out like a light…… hence no blog [sorry]……..

This morning expecting friends by for biscuits and gravy…… they showed, we all wolfed down a very respectable meal of biscuits, gravy, bacon, and sausage and washed down with Mimosa’s….. well – the women folk had them. We went out on the patio to soak up that wonderful sunshine and listen to the surf and just chatted having a grand old time. Soon more alcohol was broke out and more chatting and before we knew it – it was 6:00 in the evening and bellies were growling again. I went in and whooped up some cheeseburgers and fries (in my new air fryer) and we sat down to a feast of greasy goodness (but not the fries~!) A little more booze, a little more chat and we all got to see one of the most amazing shooting stars I have ever got to see. A Great way to wrap up an evening~! Friends are on their way home and I’m ready for a shower……. Couple of pictures for you. Not sure what tomorrow brings at this point – so…………………

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~!

We got groceries~!!

I was up bright and early this morning after a [finally] respectable nights sleep. My bride slept in for another 2.5+ hours or so, while I worked on some odds and ends on the computer, made me a nice little breakfast and enjoyed a blissfully quiet morning   😉    Angie finally rolled out and got woke up and around noon decided we needed to shop. Saaay whaaat…..?   😉 We almost had to….. I was about out of smokes and we needed fixin’s for a biscuits and gravy breakfast with friends on Tuesday morning….. can’t wait for that~~!!! So we loaded up and away we went…… finally~! The store was out of several items we wanted/needed but we still managed to spend $ 463.77~! We came back to mid island to our local store and found a few of the things for another $ 49.12 and then to a third location for the last of it for another $ 70.00~!  $ 582.89 total…. DAMMIT EMMIT~!!!!  Admittedly, we bought a few ‘extra’ things for our new air fryer than I am picking up at the post office tomorrow…… but wowser~! We should be set for a while….. I hope~!

Back in our nice cool condo, everything sorted, repackaged and put away. Got to talk with a couple of the grand kids and finally made a drink and crashed on the couch. We have been watching a new series – Thirteen. Only one season long. Angie likes it a whole bunch more than I do, but for one season I’m toughing it out. I made us a small dinner and now we are up to the last episode of it, which we’ll watch as soon as I finish up here.

Supposed to get some work done on our patio doors tomorrow, so you don’t need a come along to open them….. Yay~! Please keep your fingers crossed for us on those…… it’s taken a two and half months, just to get the appointment~~

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – – — Thankx for stopping in~!

I found it amazing that the ‘spine’ of this palm leaf looks almost invisible in it’s shadow…

Women’s Diving Day

Today was set aside by most accredited dive organizations as women’s dive day. One of my favorite shops ( Adventures in Diving STX) held their own version of it. Angie was asked if she was willing to help (since she is not a diver). She agreed and I wound up in the mix as well (since I am not a woman) and was utilized to help haul gear for the ladies from the shop to the pier. We showed up at 08:30 and set in almost immediately to work. 15 women showed up to join this shop for their dive – which meant hauling gear for all of them in small wagons. ( The pier is not accessible to vehicles unless you have a special permit) Finally got the ladies down there – geared up and in the water…… boy-0-boy did that water look nice~! About 45 minutes later we had to reverse the process, hauling the gear back. The dive shop had a nice little luncheon set up for the divers and they spent another hour eating, drinking champagne and chatting. Lots of chatting  😉   I hung out in the shade as the day was getting tropically hot. After getting the luncheon cleaned up – we finally loaded up and headed back to mid island.

My bride was to hot and worn out to want to contend with grocery shopping, so we cruised on past the store and headed for the condo. Almost there, she decided we needed to stop at Blues for ‘quick’ drink. Well~ you know how that goes…. We had several ‘quick’ drinks before finally coming back to the wonderfulness that is air conditioning. A pleasure many on the island do not have. A couple more drinks – a bite to eat and it’s time for this old fat boy to score a shower and some sleep. Grocery shopping tomorrow…… Hahahahaha………..

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~!

Friday~~ woo-hoo~!

Well a newly discovered Aw-$hit from yesterdays paper shuffle necessitated another meeting this morning with the President of our organization. She showed up a little before 10:00 and we worked for the next couple of hours getting everything straightened out – then I spent another hour or so after she left ‘cleaning up’ spread sheets and files. My Bride and I had a small brunch after she left while I wrapped everything up and by 1:30 was settled in for more Bosch. We are now in fifth [and maybe last] season – and it is every bit as good as the others. Gonna hate to see this one end – but I did a couple of google searches and now have a new list to search through once we are ready for a new show. Thankx again for the various suggestions that came in here for watching possibilities~!

Scattered rain showers off and on all day gave the island a good rinsing off and a much needed “drink”. We still haven’t managed to make it to the store yet. Dammit Emmit~! I think tomorrow will be the day — we both have to be on the West end of the island to help a local dive shop with their “Women’s Diving Day”.   ( https://www.gotostcroix.com/st-croix-blog/womens-dive-day-st-croix/)  My Queen will be helping with mild Admin type stuff while I have been relegated with the heavy lifting details. No worries – it’s for a good cause and organization. I am looking forward to it and it should be good for a bunch of new pictures. We’ll see. Since we have to go by the store we normally shop at – the plan is now, to stop and shop on the way back to the condo. Another short one tonight and some older pictures you maybe haven’t seen yet (or don’t remember seeing)  😉

Good Night Ya’ll > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Thankx for stopping in~!

Sittin’ pretty~~~ : )

Slightly better nights sleep/rest after going to bed around midnight (we’re becoming such party animals)  😉  Truth be told, we are seriously into Bosch – the new series we are watching and just couldn’t turn it off.  One of the perks of retirement….. ya want to stay up late watching something you like ??? No worries – you can sleep in the next day if you want [can]. We slept in a little bit, but not much past 07:00…… one of the down sides of ‘age’ that comes with that perk of being retired……..

After my morning stuff and a nice small breakfast….. my Queen headed off for a doctors appointment, a follow up to check on her BP and that damn cough that is coming back. While she was out, I worked on the paper trail [for taxes stuff] for the Fish With A Vet organization….. mostly dull routine mind numbing stuff – but it will make doing taxes next year soooo much easier. My bride finally made it back (she is doing good) and we had just settled in for more Bosch when our new furniture arrived~! A flurry of activity with stuff being moved in and out and in nothing flat, we have us some fine new sitting areas that look so much nicer and feels fabulous to sit on~!

It has now been a couple of hours since I started this….. I have since had a plate of spaghetti (that I have been waiting 2 weeks for) big enough to choke a buffalo. Lord have mercy was it delicious~!! Have had several on line conversations with several close friends and in between trying to watch more Bosch. I think we will finally wind up going grocery shopping tomorrow, more out of necessity now than anything…… so with that being said… I’m outta here for tonight. Bunch of random pictures from today…. we’ll see what I can scrounge for you tomorrow.

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!

Getting closer~~

Pitiful nights sleep last night….. I thinks it’s from sitting on that beat up a$$ couch all day. A bite to eat then headed up to Blues for my meeting with the organization President. She showed up shortly after us and we spent close to an hour going over paperwork. She had a fist full of money for me (from raffle prizes collected after the tournament) and another sponsor check for us~! Yay~! Look at us grow~!! Finally wrapped it up and went and sat at the bar talking with Jim, Deb and some of the regulars. We sat there for about probably 30 minutes longer than we should have, before loading back into the car.

I wanted to go get an idea what new furniture was going to cost us. We went to the place where we have bought all of our other stuff. Found a love seat we really liked the color and fabric of but not the way it sat. We found several others we liked the way they sat but not the color or fabric of. Finally found one we could settle on and then started dickering about price. Got them to lower it some if we took the matching couch. Delivered and old stuff hauled off for $ 1160.00  Not bad but wanted better….. dickering about price…. down to $ 1100.00  Better – told him we wanted to go smoke and discuss our options…… he came out mid smoke and offered $1000.00 for everything…… sold~! It will be delivered tomorrow. Yay us~!

Had to stop at the pharmacy for my bride to pick up some stuff – then headed back to the condo — air was a bit stagnant today and it was toasty out there and I was looking forward to some A/C~! So – managed to get out today and get a little bit accomplished……. besides getting half smashed….. maybe that’ll help sleep tonight  😉

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~!

Good intentions………

Another reasonable nights sleep and rolled out feeling fairly decent. Excited at the thought of getting out and actually getting something done until an email came in with bunches of receipts and stuff I needed to finalize numbers from the Corn Hole Tournament the other day.  I worked on it until breakfast was ready – and several hours past that – along with the Sponsor board I told you about.

Anyhow – – – by the time I finished that all up – it was dang near 4:00pm and my bride was quite content to stay and continue to play her game (God of War). I figured I might as well go ahead and get a couple of words in and see if I can get any pictures to load. Internet has been crappy island wide for a while now…..

Not a lot else to carry on about. I have to meet with Organization president tomorrow to go over financials… woo-hoo~~ Who knows… maybe we’ll eventually get out to get that shopping done……..  😉

Didn’t do SQUAT~!

After a much needed better nights sleep – I rolled out around 6:00 this morning, feeling soooo much better……. got my morning stuff out of the way – which now includes monitoring my BP (whether I want to or not) and then settled in for some catch up on the lap top. Got caught up on the news – all the baloney that is Face Book and then went to work on another project I created. I ordered a ‘menu’ board for intermediate notices for the club and organization I am in. Part of that involved clipping approximately a go-zillion small plastic letters, numbers and emoticons from small plastic strips. A mind numbing task, but had to be done…. I’ll share a picture of the end project when I get it. In the meantime – my bride finally rolled out a couple of hours later, woke up and made us a bite to eat while I dabbled in the alphabet.

The original plan for the day was to look at some furniture and do some shopping for groceries and etc.  UH…. that would be a big negatory there storm trooper. After the bite to eat – we got wrapped up in our new series (Bosch) and before we knew it – it was time for a drink and….. well – you know….. not much happened after that other than more drinking.

Our temporary new neighbors from next door were leaving the island and asked if we wanted the groceries, etc. that they didn’t finish ? Hell yeah~! We wound up with a full case of water, some cokes, some coconut water, some eggs, some RUM, some Tito’s [Vodka] and a whole bunch of other goodies~! One of the few good things about getting people in and out of the place next door to us — we collect a lot of goodies~!! Once we gathered up our treasures – we went back in and settled in to more Bosch. One of them mentioned she liked Vodka and Root Beer….. and that I “ought to try it” — Hell….. I’ll try anything once~! You know what ???  That is pretty damn tasty~!! Course – you have to like Root Beer to start with. I wouldn’t want to drink a lot of it cause it is really sweet, but it is a nice refreshing break from the norm~! So…… now about half tight from Tito’s and Root Beer — I’m gonna sling up some pix and head for the shower and some sleep~!  Shopping tomorrow ??? Who knows……………..   😉

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~!

((Well – after 45 minutes…. I got TWO whole pictures to load….Ahhh island life internet…… I’m quittin’ here….. maybe tomorrow))
