Sunday… funday… not so much~

As I stated last night, my Bride seems to be regressing slightly which is a bit of a concern to me….. Her CT scan is scheduled for noon tomorrow [our time] plus additional appointments with Doc are to be made and met. I’ll make sure it comes up then…. I seemed to have back slid a little bit myself – but that is on me….. because I was feeling mostly like my old self, I eased up on some of the OTC meds (that crap is really not good for you) and I think that’s what I was dealing with today. I recognized it quick and have went back to my barrage of meds….. I have to stay in enough shape to make sure my Queen is taken care of. Have no fear – we shall get through this….. maybe not as fast as I would like – but we will get through it!

I have confirmed that my little Sister and her BFF (that is Best Friend Forever for all you old farts that ain’t up on the cool hipster expressions they use today) 😉 are coming in next month and we cannot wait…. !Always good to see family~! We have met BFF once or twice and we both like her – so it should be a real good time. They both have expressed an interest in trying SCUBA diving…… can’t wait to chat with them about it and see if they follow through. You know us damned old big brothers…. always getting the younger ones into something~! I couldn’t get her to jump out of an airplane (altho I did get her hubby to) maybe I can get her to jump into the Sea~! 😉 Regardless — it will be a good to see family again and have her around for a couple of days and show her BFF our beautiful island.

That’s about all I can squeeze out for you today dear readers….. this sick thing definitely throws a wrench in the works. Hopefully over and done with this crap by the end of next week……

Good night Ya’ll * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~~!

Short one tonight…..

Woke up to some rain and an angry sea outside my door this morning…. even with those conditions, it is still quite beautiful in it’s own way. The color of the sky, the color of the water and just the over all feel in the air. Quite magical at times. I think my Queen is definitely getting better. She coughed a lot less last night and was a lot less restless (which means we both got a little better sleep) — I was up at my normal time, just a skosh before 07:00. Thankfully, my Bride slept in until around 09:30 this morning. I like it when she sleeps in….. 1. – it’s quiet 😉 but more importantly, 2: I know she is getting the sleep and rest she needs. The bulk of the day was internet stuff — I had some club activities to deal with – and of course – watching Jack Bauer continuing to save the world….. and not much else. So with that dear readers…. I bid you adieu…. and a couple of shots I snapped this morning and some more pix from the past~

Good Night Ya’ll . . . . . . . Thankx for stopping in~!

Meetings and coughing….

I made it up to the bank this morning and managed to successfully get my name as an authorized signer on the signature block at the bank for our Fish With A Vet USVI organization. So I guess it’s official now. Left the bank and walked over to a small café for a Board meeting. It was a little long winded, but a lot more on track than usual and it looks like we may finally be getting some kind of direction taking shape. More on that to come.

I had to leave the meeting a little bit early to go and fetch my Bride and take her to the Doctor. They had her chest X-ray back and wanted to discuss it. They found a small dark spot on one of her lungs – but we are not too concerned – at this point – as we believe it is the same small benign spot that was spotted some 15+ years ago. To be on the safe side – Doc is requesting a CT scan and a physical for my Queen and those appointments have already been set up. I will see to it that she makes all of them if I have to pack her into them~! I’m doing much better — other than a little congestion and stuffiness…. I’m about over it – but continue to hammer the OTC meds until I’m sure. Thank you all for the texts and IM’s checking up on us and your concern. It really is appreciated. In the grand scheme of things I guess we’re holding our own – and will continue to do so until we need Daughters to start changing our diapers~~ 😉 😉 😉 😉

Gonna quit here and get back to 24 and see what Jack Bauer is doing to save the world in the next couple of hours (he saves the world at least every other episode) Hopefully a little more to rattle on about tomorrow.

Feelin’ not as bad….. I think~

Third heavy duty day into feeling like open a$$…… lots of sitting on the couch watching 24 and still feeling bad. I see minor improvements in both of our conditions. My bride is now coughing to the point of almost up-chucking [technical term] but it is a good thing cause she is getting that crap up and out of her body. My cough is much, much less severe than hers — and I think it’s because of the bombardment of OTC meds I pour into me on a regular basis….. laying down at night presents it’s own set of unique challenges – but I am dealing with that. Was hoping to hear from the Doc today about her chest x-rays – but by late in the afternoon with no call from Doc – a well placed phone call indicates the x-rays haven’t made it over to them yet — [well, after all, it is almost 20 minutes away] — Island time~! So hopefully tomorrow we hear something. The day was spent, watching 24, a lot of coughing, the occasional smoke break and feeling [not as] bad……….. I’m not gonna try and drag this out to another 500 words like I managed to do last night….. just suffice to say – not been a fun day here at the Hein condo……

I have a meeting at the bank in the morning with the Fish With a Vet organization. I am going to finally get my name put on the signature block at the bank for the organization….. after all – we are already in to February and I am the Treasurer. We have a organization meeting directly after that, and early intel says it’s gonna be a doozy~~ Regardless how I feel in the a.m. – I plan on being there for both. Probably won’t be any new pix – but I’ll try and report back later that evening. We are supposed to do a tour of a Live-Aboard boat that offers some pretty special dive packages tomorrow evening – but we are both waiting to see how we feel. I am curious how that works, as the dive club I belong to is talking about scheduling a Live-Aboard dive trip in the not so distant future….. We will both have to be feeling a lot better though, as that is a 30 minute drive to the West end of the island [after dark] to make that tour….. I’m gonna quit here….. tired and my teeth are killing me (from sinus pressure)….. I’m sure I’ll be healed up and get back to some form of normality soon…… until then…..

Feelin’ Bad~~

Well sir….there is NO doubt about it – I definitely managed to pick up the crud that my Bride has been struggling with for the past couple of three weeks. Fortunately, I tend to get over that crap pretty quick, by bombarding my system with OTC meds. Maybe a little bit dangerous, but I figure if it ain’t killed me by now – odds are in my favor it won’t. Plus – I have been making Angie go to the doctor to get healed up. Hard headed pain in the butt that she is, thinks she don’t need to go and then winds up getting a lot sicker than she needs to be and then decides to listen to me about going to the clinic (after she finally gets me sick). I told her after I get her healed up this round – the next time she coughs – just once – I’m dragging her narrow a$$ into the clinic~! So hopefully we should both be healed up by the end of the week. Angie slept in again real late this morning and I let her because I know she hasn’t been sleeping well during the night. I came out this morning, checked on line briefly to make sure all was well in my little part of the world back in the states…. then went and sat on the couch and felt bad. When I get down like that – that is my preferred method to get through it…. I don’t want waited on or coddled….. just leave me alone and let me feel bad. Like I said – I’m usually over it in a couple of days when left to myself. Of course, once my bride was up and functioning – I had to haul her into town for the chest X-rays that Doc wanted. Got that out of the way and came back to the condo to sit on the couch and watch 24….and feel bad. We get up for the occasional cigarette and shot of fresh sea air and then head back in for more 24…… and feel bad.

I started out this morning feeling like my head was in a vice, I had a sore throat and like a small Buffalo was sitting on my chest. My teeth hurt from the pressure in my sinuses, eyes were watering and nose running like a faucet. AAHHhh – good times. A gross amount of OTC meds have knocked most of that out now….. nose is still running (and it’s sore now from wiping it too much) – but all other symptom’s are either gone or greatly improved. Plan is to spend all day tomorrow not doing much of anything either (except feel bad) while we wait to hear from the Doc. So – I hope you’re feeling a damn site better than either one of us. Illness like this sucks when you have snow, ice and cold….. but when you have that illness in Paradise – it really sucks~! Kinda like having a Summer cold back in the states. I’ll update on Brides condition after we hear back from the Doc.

Good night Ya’ll / / / / / / / Thankx for stopping in~!

Stormy

No dive and meeting…

Slept in ever so slightly this morning and rolled out feeling like I had been rode hard and put up mostly wet……… Went out and stretched in that gorgeous sunshine but no matter what I did – I could not shake that Blah feeling. I gave it the old college try – but by 08:30 – I pinged the group I was supposed to dive with and told them I was not going to make it. One of the things you are taught early in SCUBA diving – is to no when to not dive… and this was going to be one of those mornings. So I sat down to catch up on a ton of paperwork from the event the night before. I didn’t get very far into it, before I had to take off for a Board of Directors meeting for the dive club I belong to. Met them all at a local place called Off the Wall. Probably one of the prettiest places on the island to hold any kind of meeting. Food and drinks ordered and the meeting took off. An hour or so later, we were finished. The club is heading in a different and [probably much] better direction. Lots of exciting new things coming up. I finally bid them adieu to head back to the condo, to find my Bride in bed asleep. That is a good thing. The cough/flu bug she has is making a come back and she has not been sleeping well. I intend to get her into see a doctor tomorrow – and not those back wood bunch of ya-hoo’s she saw at the MEC Center.

I spent the majority of the afternoon finishing up Treasurer work from Fish With A Vet and Points work for CRABBS (dive club). Angie came stumbling out a couple of hours later so I finished up what I was doing and quit and sat down to watch some 24 with her. She had no appetite and I was starving – so I ordered a pizza for me. I got wings, fries and a Brownie extra – in case she wanted to try something. I have been wanting to try this place’s pizza for a while – as I have heard multiple rave reviews about it. Gosh was that a disappointment…. the only pizza worse than it on the island is Domino’s….. Oh well – at least I know now.

I have moved to my ‘command center’ to write to you all and Angie has turned on the Super Bowl while I type. She said she would only watch it if I watched it. I hate to disappoint her – but I’m not watching that over paid bunch of prima-donna’s until they all learn some respect~! I’ll spend my hard earned money on bad pizza and crap like that instead of football jersey’s and such. Enough for one night….. a bunch of running and stuff tomorrow — I’ll see if I can snag a new photo or two for ya~~

Good Night Ya’ll > > > > > > > > Thankx for stopping in~!

The Gong Show~!!

After one of the better nights sleep I’ve had in a while (Yay~!) I rolled out to light sprinkles and some clouds. Kind of a bummer considering we were hoping for our classic weather for our event later that afternoon. No worries – it turned out to our regular gorgeous weather a little later — My Bride made a nice breakfast for us while I printed out a half of a tree worth of paperwork for our Fish With A Vet edition of The Gong Show celebrating the 78th anniversary of the USO – the organization famous for helping veterans. After a nice relaxing morning, we headed out to The Deep End restaurant to start setting up for our event. A little bit shaky starting out as I tried to fulfill my role as volunteer organizer. Other than thoroughly pissing off the local handy man – I think it went fairly good. We got all the decorations up, tables and slots assigned and soon the ‘show’ was under way. Had a couple of glitches (1 judge didn’t show up, a scheduled act didn’t show up, that kind of thing) but all issues resolved and the show went off pretty good. Everybody seemed to have a really good time – there was some really great prizes handed out and I think for the most part – the evening was a huge, huge success. As the Treasurer of the club – a rough look at the ‘take’ for the evening I think will confirm my suspicions. Which is really good – because ALL money earned goes to helping the veterans on the island. First place was a guy with an electric guitar doing a fairly decent rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s America the Beautiful. What the hell that had to do with the 1940’s is beyond my comprehension…. but the crowd loved it. Sadly, due to multiple roles I was filling for the evening, my picture taking came to a halt after everything got started, but I still managed some pictures so you get an idea of the event. Best costume turned out to be one of our dear friends, wearing an outfit that looked like she walked right off of the set of A League of Their Own…… Overall a very fun, nice enjoyable evening, that [thankfully] turned out way much better than I was expecting. I’m gonna call it here…. I have a mild headache and need a shower…… hopefully have the energy to get up for a dive in the morning….

Good night Ya’ll – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!

February the One~th~!

Starting off the new short month with what will most certainly be a short (or shorter than usual) post. We slept in a little bit this morning – which was a really nice change from getting up to the alarm all week. Rolled out to the sun already up and the breeze a blowin’~ We stretched and stood out there enjoying the sun, breeze and the leisure life of being retired. We came in and lounged, catching up computer and phone stuff that had been mostly overlooked during our ‘work week’. Angie made a nice breakfast using some of the steak she couldn’t finish last night at Blues for the meat of the meal…..steak and eggs is always a good thing~! We settled in on the couch for a day of R & R watching our newest series now called 24. A friend had told me a while back about it and I finally pulled it up and checked it out. We like it so far and managed to get almost through one entire season today. It stars Kiefer Southerland and has some nice cameos by other big names in it. Kinda of a different format as well from most TV series. All done in ‘real time’ in one hour increments – of course with it coming on Prime…. there are no commercials – so it’s only 40 minutes long or so – but a timer on the show keeps it in real time. check it out. Tomorrow promises to be quite a day. The Fish With A Vet organization is hosting the “Gong Show” tomorrow – which should be something to see. We’re working as volunteers at the event – I just hope I can snap a couple of pictures during it~! Because that is about all I can ramble about for a day like today – I’m gonna quit here and put up some pictures you may not have seen yet.

Good Night Ya’ll + + + + + + + Thankx for stopping in~!
