New week – new day…..

Woke up again entirely too friggin’ early for being retired – but whatcha gonna do ?? My bride made us a breakfast while I worked on how much money I’m going to try and get back from Delta Airlines (they suck by the way!) Turns out it cost us almost $800 additional dollars for that fiasco coming back to the island….. It should be a real treat trying to get that back~!

We decided to head out to the store to pick up the couple of things I couldn’t get yesterday. Silly, silly me…. I thought we just needed a head of lettuce, 2 gallons of milk and hash browns….. 3 full bags and $220+ dollars later (with my Senior Citizen discount) we were out of the store and headed back for the condo…….. and sill didn’t have the hash browns…. DAMMIT EMMIT~!

Groceries put away, we settled down for more Rescue Me [we are both warming up to it now] and now into Season # 4. I relate to some of the guys on it on a messed up level……. makes for great conversation/arguments between me and the Queen.

I’ve now had my shower and getting ready to head back to the couch just as soon as I put up another stumper on FB  😉  Got to hear from our Damn Neighbors [twice] today — it is their drunk Monday and whether they are hammered or not – always soooooo much fun to hear from them. Turns out they are going to be back in Indiana about the same time we are in September, so plans are already in motion for us to connect while we are there…… Michael and I have already agreed, we don’t know anybody any more in Law Enforcement in the area… sooooo……anybody in this reading audience I can call to throw bail if needed????   😉

No new pictures from today — so I’ll dig up some older ones…..

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * ** * * * * *  Thankx for stopping in~!

A Lazy Sunday……

Went to bed really late last night and got up MUCH earlier than I would have liked, but my eyeballs were floating and once I got up and saw that sunlight – I was up for the day. I did manage a fairly decent nights sleep though as my bride slept through most of the night. She is [thankfully] starting to heal up and starting to get much well needed sleep and rest. Slow, easy start to the day, taking it easy and catching up on computer stuff. My bride felt well enough that she made breakfast this morning while I worked on getting our plane tickets for our next visit back to the states. Geeez – flying in and out of multiple airports on one visit is expensive~! We are flying through 4 different airports to get back (landing in Michigan) and then another three, flying out of Evansville to get back home… Hopefully the airlines do a much better job of moving us around.

I finally got up and headed out to Cane Bay to the Off the Wall restaurant for our dive club Board meeting. Meeting was relatively quick and productive with some of the nicest scenery you could ever ask for, for a meeting of any kind. I snapped a couple of pictures for you if I can get this Mickey Mouse internet to load them. I stopped on the way back to do a little grocery shopping for a couple of needed odds and ends, only to find most of the shelves empty – something you have to get used to, living on a small island in the middle of the Caribbean. So I picked up what I could and will hit one of the bigger stores tomorrow — or wait for the supply ferry to make it in to the island.

Really about it — may do a little running tomorrow…… going to start in on the challenge of getting some of my money back from Delta Airlines from that fiasco last weekend. Until then…………..

Super slow day………

Other than make breakfast for my bride and do the dishes…. I didn’t do a damn thing today except sit and watch TV. We finally finished up Burn Notice and now am watching Rescue Me. Kinda racy – but seems to be a fairly realistic show about a bunch of New York Fire Fighters….. we are both on the fence about it right now – but I am starting to warm up to it. Other than that – nothin’ and between that and an internet that is barely letting me get this done….. I’m done for tonight.

I have a dive club meeting tomorrow, maybe I can snag a couple of pictures for you and maybe the internet will be working well enough to let me get them put up.

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in`!

Follow up with ‘Doc’~~

Rolled out after actually sleeping in a little bit. Me and my Queen both got a much needed night of decent sleep and rest. I think the meds are starting to work for Angie so she is sleeping – and because she is sleeping, I get to. I just hope it continues as I think we are both worn out from our latest trial, tribulations and illness’s…………..

I made us both a nice breakfast and we took it easy until the afternoon when I had my follow up with ‘Doc’, but this time for me…… BP was up a little bit higher than ‘Doc’ would have liked – but I was a tad bit stressed when I got there and I think that accounted for it. ‘Doc’ was pretty thorough in her questions and I ‘lightened up’ a little bit during the appointment. She took my BP just before I left and it was back down where she wanted it to be. She also has me started on a Cholesterol medicine to get it back in check. Next project is to get me off cigarettes. She didn’t want to start me on two new meds at once as they can interact with each other and not in a good way…… She is determined to make me hang around for a while, but for the most part very happy with my condition.   She also strongly recommend I lay off diving for a while.  🙁  What the hell ??? Not supposed to eat what I want, not supposed to drink what I want, not supposed to dive when I want……. what the hell is the use of hanging around longer ????  Yea, yea, yea —- I get the whole watch my Grand kids grow up and stuff – but if I’m miserable, that ain’t livin’~! (but – that is why I said “not supposed to”)  😉  I do intend to try and take better care of myself….. but not going to go overboard with it~~~~   😉  I already have a follow up appointment with her in two months……. but until then – got to enjoy some aspect of being retired and living on a tropical island~~~

Not a lot else to rattle on about and I’m a lot more tired than I should probably be after doing dang near nothing today….. so signing out with a couple of hopefully unseen older pictures…….

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!

Getting through the day~

Got up way too early this morning after going to bed way too late. Angie was struggling to lay down without coughing entirely too much and she finally decided to go out onto the couch. (easier to sit up there and try to sleep) I understood why but that made it even harder for me to try and sleep as I was listening for the ‘bad’ coughing spells that would set her to gagging. I don’t think either of us got a heckva lot sleep and were both up and about by 06:30. Sitting up and moving about, she does much better. She said she would like to eat and I was tickled to death to make her an egg, a couple of pieces of bacon, a slice of toast and a glass of milk – which I’m tickled she ate every bit of. I had a meeting with the Fish With A Vet organization I am part of. I really wasn’t up to going, but an obligation is an obligation. I sat through that meeting, finally got to gather up my stuff and head back to the condo.

I walked into a storm of information from my bride about our ‘personal’ nurse I mentioned the other day….. Angie had been talking with her while I was out and it apparently seems because we physically live in the Virgin Islands – she can no longer help like she promised. I was supposed to call her to discuss, but I was just too emotionally drained to do it. I guess I have not completely recovered from the past 5 days and need more time than I expected to “heal” up from that night mare. I only have 1 appointment tomorrow and that is with the ‘Doc’ to discuss what I have been through and follow up. I’m kinda looking forward to that conversation – but more so – the following day – will be a day with nothing scheduled~! I am really looking forward to Saturday~! Turns out I have a dive club meeting Sunday. I will not be able to join them on the pre-meeting dive as I need to make sure the incision where they did the Heart Cath is completely healed up before subjecting it to saltwater. I will be able to attend the meeting though – so a 1 day weekend for me……. a much needed day.

A little bit short, but gonna stop here…a couple of pictures from today……

Good Night Ya’ll  / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Thankx for stopping in~!

Had this [not so] little guy visit us this morning~~

Our view this morning

Around the island

Delta sucks……..

After a pitiful night dealing with Angie not breathing well and not doing a lot of sleeping – I finally rolled out of bed and stumbled out to greet the day (there is a [really good] country song there)……. Mercifully Angie stayed and in bed and managed a couple hours of sleep while I sat out here and tried to find our luggage….. Delta Airline SUCKS……… Angie finally came out and set up camp on the couch. I remembered an obligation I made up at Blues and just as soon as I made sure Angie was set – I took off for an hour or so of manual labor to get Blues set up with more material for smoking the meat they serve.

I came back, dripping wet with sweat and covered in dirt — took a quick shower and made breakfast for me and my Queen. I managed to get her to eat a little bit, got her resituated on the couch and I came back to continue to work on trying to find our luggage. Delta Airlines SUCKS~! After about a half a dozen phone calls and another half dozen emails, I finally found some intel that said our luggage was indeed here on the island. I made sure Angie was set and took off once again across the island to the airport. It took some digging, prying, pushing and a little bit of intimidation…. but I finally found our luggage~!! Delta Airline SUCKS~! I was so mad, upset, stressed and plain ole pi$$ed off by the time I recovered it – I almost couldn’t talk. It apparently has been sitting here on the island the entire time~!!  I was ready to look up Delta HQ and go on a rampage. My chest hurt, but I suspicion it was strictly from my nerves being shot (and I am a lot more aware of it now) It was not pretty how upset I was. Now that we finally have our stuff, I am going to spend the next week, trying to recoup some financial restitution from this whole fiasco~!!

Got the luggage back to the condo, everything put away and had a drink with my Queen….. I made her a Turkey and ‘Mater sammich and am really happy she ate all of it. Her medicine, now that it is staying down seems to be starting to work. She is still coughing, but no where near as bad as the last several days. Nerves still mostly shot….. I’m looking forward to one full day of doing absolutely nothing – however – that will have to wait a couple of days, as I have several meetings and appointments to make tomorrow and Friday. Friday being a doctors appointment for me. Not sure what pictures or thoughts I will have for a blog — my brain is scrambled and I need to unwind a little bit. Oh – did I mention…… DELTA Airlines SUCKS~!!!!!  (A few old pix, straightened up and captioned for ya)

First full day back home…………..

Well  I planned our trip back to the states to where I was going to have a couple of days to decompress when we got back to returning to island life….. Compliments of Delta Airlines that did not happen. I had a doctors appointment at noon today to follow up with the disaster that happened while I was back in the states (the whole heart attack thing)…… Because my Queen is coughing and turning funky colors when she does it- I talked ‘Doc’ into dealing with my Queen instead of me for this appointment. One listen to her cough convinced ‘Doc’ it was the right thing to do – so I promised to schedule a follow up appointment while she dealt with Angie. Angie is now on a whole new strain of meds to try and get her patched up now and I have another appointment for Friday…. ‘Doc’ did check my BP and I am proud to report it was 117 over 72~!!!  It has never [ever] been that good. Doc was happy and said she would see me Friday for follow up.

We left the clinic and stopped and picked up a whole new bunch of meds for my bride and then decided we needed to stop by Blues.  What a wonderful, wonderful reception when we walked through the gates. It is always nice to be welcomed somewhere – but even better when it is by a great group of people that made the fuss they did when we walked in. We spent the next several hours talking of our trials and tribulations and also celebrating Dave’s birthday~! The bar finally managed to run out of Crown (not saying Angie was drinking a lot) – so we figured that was a good signal for us to go.

A quick stop by the store to pick up essentials (milk, eggs, sausage, Crown and a few other odds and ends) and we are now back in our nice cool, quiet condo kind of wondering how we are so tuckered out after a good nights sleep and a relatively quiet, easy day………. certainly cannot have anything to do with age or alcohol……… 😉

A couple of pix I snapped today – and I’m headed for another wonder shower and some serious couch time……. I’ll get back to more normal stuff soon – I promise….. until then………….

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!

FINALLY back at home………..

Good God Gerdy what a couple of days………. We went out with dear, dear friends yesterday (Roland and Letty Hall). They live right outside of Atlanta and came and picked us up for a wonderful evening of good food and conversation. It saved us from another day wallering around in Atlanta while we tried to get back to our beautiful little island~! They were supposed to be spending some time up in “The Harm” while we were there – but fate intervened and they couldn’t make it. As it turned out…. fate intervened again when we hit Atlanta and we were lucky enough to connect there. Wonderful little restaurant, good food, nice ambience and wonderful company. We had to weenie out on them once we left the restaurant though. My bride was tired and my groin was killin’ me, so we opted out of the rest of the evening with them. They dropped us back off at our hotel and headed back to their house – while my Queen and I when back to our room and went straight to bed (hence no post last night) This traveling noise has flat taken it out of us. With Angie not feeling a 100% up to snuff – and me a little laid up from the Heart Cath – I guess we just ain’t the young bucks we used to be. I’d like to think we WILL get healed up  and pick it back up though~~  😉

There is such a nightmare to tell you about for the rest of our journey…… but right now I want a nice shower (with clean clothes to get into when I’m finished) and to sleep in our bed~!! To cap the whole FUBAR’d situation off….. our luggage did not great us when we got here….. but we have extra stuff here in the condo – so we’re good.  Loved, LOVED, LOVED seeing our new grand Daughter and our Babies – but it is still nice to be back home~~~ More tomorrow…….

Good Night Ya’ll . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Thankx for stopping in~!

Holy Crapola……….

Been quite the day for the old fat boy and his Queen Ya’ll……. as stated yesterday – up at 03:30 in the a.m. to get our flight out of Evansville. Alarm went off promptly at the set time……. That is about the only thing that went like it was supposed to today……… Our flight got delayed, then ‘pushed back’ then we set on the tarmac for 45 minutes….. Finally got into the air, landed here in Atlanta [yes- I said here in Atlanta]. Hustled all the way through 3 concourses to get to our connection gate, just in time to watch them pull the gangway away from our airplane~! Dammit Emmit~!! I got my bride settled into a smoking lounge and for the next 2+ hours ran around that airport trying to get us a new plane ticket home……. ain’t gonna happen Captain~!! I am satisfied I gave it 100% only to have to accept the fact that we were not only going to have to stay the night in Atlanta – we were going to have to stay 2 nights in Atlanta…… Geeeesh what a clusterf**k~! I don’t like to use that expression on here – but it is the only way to describe it……. So accepting the inevitable, we got a room at the local Marriott. Both starving as it is now 3:30 in the afternoon and we had not eaten yet…. we took the advice of the local bar maid at the airport and tried out a place called Max Lager. Supposedly had a decent steak for my Queen. The place was big and clean and smelled like I’m sure heaven smells. Angie ordered her a steak while I opted for the ribs I was sure I was smelling. Keeping it short cause I’m gonna crash [again] here soon…. The steak was “Heh – not bad” and my ribs, while very nicely prepared, lacked the ‘umph’ I was looking for. We had a fairly tasty piece of Key Lime pie before hailing another taxi to haul us back to the hotel.

We got back around 6:00 and both fell into bed exhausted waking up some 2+ hours later, hence why this is going up so late…… we also may have had a liiiiitttttle bit to drink while we were out.   😉 Gonna put up some pictures from today…. again…. unedited, so tonight you’re getting what you’re getting like last night….. once back on our beautiful little island, I’ll clean them up and put some of the better ones up – with captions. We are supposed to meet up with dear friends tomorrow who live right outside of Atlanta for what should be a fun filled day with them (which is a huge bright spot in this mess). Until then friends, family and sports fans…. bedtime for us……

Good Night Ya’ll * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thankx for stopping in~!

More family time before hitting the road

A big wonderful dinner with almost our entire family before we climb aboard that big silver bird and head back to the land of sunshine, beaches and warm tropical breezes. Got to spend a little extra quiet time with Jeni and our new Grandbaby before gathering up at Hacienda for a good bye dinner.

Lord what a combination of misfits and weirdo’s…… but they are our misfits and weirdo’s and we wouldn’t have it any other way…….well, maybe a tad quieter  😉 The good byes at the end of the dinner were long and tugged hard at the heart strings……. probably the toughest part of our island life.

Worn out and ready for some rest — we have to be up by 03:30 to make our flight out at 06:00, so keeping this short. With any kind of luck – we will be back on our island by 3:15 tomorrow afternoon and hopefully not completely drained.

Good Night Ya’ll < < < < < < < < < < < < < Thankx for stopping in~!

(No editing or anything to pictures tonight… just too tired – no sorting either… just fresh off the camera) (( I’ll edit and sort and put some up again tomorrow))
