Christmas Eve on the island

Well hells bells…. I started this almost an hour ago trying to get it done and here I am…an hour later with one line…….. Our down day got a skosh disrupted when the island ‘kids’ asked if we could come out to the shop for some last minute attention to detail things they wanted to cover with us before they head back to the land of plenty to celebrate Christmas with their families and we run their business for them. So just a little bit after our late breakfast, we headed out West only to arrive and needed to wait a bit longer….. no worries, plenty of bars around – so we wound up at Louie & Nacho’s….. West end beach bar with arguably one of the best views on the island. We sat there and had 3 or 4 drinks while we waited for Shawn to get back. They finally pinged us and back down to the shop we went. Details sufficiently covered – it was decided we needed to meet them for dinner, and cover another few last minute details they forgot (keys, work shirts, etc.) So we came back to the condo to wait on them. While we were here – we got to meet our newest neighbors (right next door) A young couple from Atlanta with a 1 year old little boy with an infectious grin. We chatted about things to do around the island, took some pictures for them by our Christmas palms and now here I am trying to get this finished before we take off again to meet Shawn & Cynthia for dinner. Our schedules have been updated and we are doing an insane amount of tours the next 7 days……. That should help shuck a couple of pounds and maybe rattle some of the old bones loose and get them moving again. I’m gonna go ahead and sign off now and get some pictures up…..

Dammit Emmit….. it’s now been another 2 hours since my last sentence….. just back from dinner with the kids. Some reasonably decent food….. lots of drinks – the kids are on their way leaving us with keys, shirts and all essentials……. belly is full and we have a long day tomorrow (for the next 7 days)….. so NOW – outta here………

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
