Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school -
Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen.
Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me.
A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet.
Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
Another ‘island day’…… breakfast, TV…. we finished Mind Hunters….. only 2 seasons but a worthwhile watch. Watched a new movie called the Highway Men…. fun story based loosely on the folks who brought down Bonnie & Clyde, starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. Not bad, not great. Nothing planned for tomorrow as far as I know. Do have a couple of dives scheduled now for Monday morning……….that’s about it~~
Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – — – – – – – – – – – Thankx for stopping in~!
Slept in a bit, not having to deal with a meatballs and vodka filled stomach this morning……. other than a phone call from the states to contend with, not a hellva lot accomplished today….. watching the sun, sand, surf and an occasional passing rain shower. We also started a new series – Mind Hunter. Based on FBI studies on what we know today as serial killers. So far, pretty well done and entertaining. Only 2 season’s long, but I find the subject matter fascinating and it plays some pretty decent music during the show – as most of it [so far] takes place in the late 70’s. So – Just another day on the island……..

Up a little earlier than I would have liked to this morning due to an urgent call of nature….. so I stayed up and enjoyed the quiet until my bride came stumbling out. Took it easy most of the day – battling a minor episode of what I believe to be those 2 big meatball subs I had last night. While the sauce he uses is not spicy – it is very tomato(ey) and I believe that was the source of the ‘episode’….. course – a pretty hefty dose of Vodka on top of it probably didn’t help it any 😉
Rest of the day was breakfast and Dexter….. we finally finished that series – I have to say it had one of the stupidest endings I have ever seen to a series. Rest of the time was looking for a new series (still am). We did watch one movie called First Kill. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. Apparently, the shark video’s I was talking about last night was bigger than I thought because I couldn’t get them to load on FB either. I even tried again this morning…. course, it could be this mickey mouse internet we have here also……. I’ll keep trying because they are pretty awesome videos~! And that’s about it for today……………

Up before my alarm early enough to get my morning stuff out of the way…. not to be confused with my evening stuff which you all are a part of. 🙂 Headed out for Salt River for a couple of dives…….MmMmMmmmm good stuff. First dive site was Salt River East…… visibility left a lot to be desired but at one point I wound up with 5 – count ’em 5sharks circling me~!! I even had one bounce off of my fins, which made for an abrupt change in my direction….. but OH MY how wonderful. I did managed to suck up about a ¼ tank of air in the process though. That gets the ole heart rate up there, let me tell you~! Lots of other fun stuff on the dive – but nothing came close to the shark encounter~! Second dive was Salt River West – and while it was a gorgeous dive with it’s own set of sharks – it could not touch the first dive. WOW~! Hung around after we got back to the dock and enjoyed a couple of ice cold Budweiser’s and a couple of cigarettes before loading up and heading back to my Queen. She – had been grocery shopping while I was out playing under the waves. Both back about the same time…… drinks seemed appropriate, so we commenced……… that led into heading up to Blues for a bite to eat and some liquid refreshment. As per usual – there was a dang site more liquid refreshment than chow – although I did manage to knock out 2 massive meatball subs and we stayed and chatted and drank. The place had a presentable band, the place was hopping and filled with mostly local regulars. A very satisfying evening. Finally at my limit – I coaxed my bride into the truck and headed back here…….. all settled in for the evening — I’m gonna put up some pix from today. I’d like to say we’re gonna sit and knock out a couple of episodes of Dexter – but right now all I want to do is lay down……. so – I hope you enjoy the pictures…. and I’ll catch ya tomorrow. (Look for a couple of fun videos on FB-too big to get on here).

Slept way in this morning (08:15ish) even after going to bed reasonably early last night. Not sure what is wearing us out because we really haven’t done much of anything the past couple of three days. I got another offer this morning when I finally got on line, that the dive shop I usually go with is looking for some more pictures and was wondering if I was interested in supplying some more…… well yes ……..Yes Ma’am I am~!! Same scenario, I am to load pictures on a flash drive and drop it off to them and I will be compensated [in trade] for some dives….. Thank you very much~! I no longer had a flash drive as I gave it to somebody else for some other pictures they needed ((HMmm – I need to get that back))…… so I jumped in the truck in search of another flash drive. It should probably go without saying – the first 6 places I checked didn’t have any, so I wound up over on the other side of the island in one of my most UN-favorite places (Sunny Isle Shopping Center) – to get into Office Max to pick up some more flash drives. Got ’em~!! Back to the condo just in time for a might tasty breakfast and some Dexter before I sat down to start uploading more pictures. Finished that (almost another 1000 pictures) and just about the time I was getting comfy on the couch with my Bride, I remembered I need a drug refill (Cholesterol, BP, etc.) My Bride called them in and I put my shoes back on and ran up to the drug store for our refills. Now back here, going through mail (pictures from Stephanie~ Yay~!) and doing my evening ‘stuff’. Whether you know it or not – you all are part of my evening ‘stuff’. 🙂 I check my bank account [make sure I ain’t been hacked], my Florida mail account and see if we made or lost money on our investment accounts before I sit down to regale you of my day…… very happy to have you as part of my ‘stuff’ 😉 I have since managed to get myself on a couple of dives tomorrow – so I can re-stock my photo supply for you…. 🙂 but for now — gonna sit down for some more Dexter. We are already in the last season (#8)….. so if you have recommendations for our next series… let’s hear ’em~!

Slept in a teeny tiny bit this morning after getting to bed late after watching the Super Bowl. Almost relieved – I was a little bit afraid, I was gonna realize how much I missed watching football…… but after watching the “game of the year” I find that I really don’t miss it. Maybe because I don’t follow my Colts anymore…. Guess I should be good and pi$$ed at the network that aired the game too. I noticed when they were playing the National Anthem, the network I guess, chose not to show the PoS that didn’t stand for the Anthem. Although looking it up online – there were plenty of them……sorry bunch of @#$%^&!!
Anyhow…. a small breakfast, a lot of computer time (first of the month – got to pay them bills) and a little bit of Dexter. Really not a lot else until time for dinner and now that, that is done…… put up some pictures for you all and get my song trivia out of the way – and then back to the couch. Looks to be a pretty tame week the rest of the week…… unless I can sneak in a couple of dives 😉
Good Night Ya’ll + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Thankx for stopping in~!
Up a little earlier than I would have liked this morning because I had to be up long enough to get my ‘morning stuff’ out of the way before taking off for the West end of the island to take part in a ‘club dive’. Diving with a shop I rarely dive with. I have got just plumb comfortable diving with the bunch from Cane Bay Dive shop and diving with this group was taking me way out of my comfort zone…… I don’t like that, but over the past couple of years, have found out that, as uncomfortable as it is for me – it is a great way to expand your world – whether you like it or not. It helps me maintain my mantra of – if you haven’t tried it you may be missing out on the greatest experience of your life. Seems as though, it gets a damn site tougher to do, the older you get – course, it could just be my crotchety old ass too……. 😉 The boat that I wound up on is a dang site smaller than what I’m used to, and while it only holds six divers – it made for a very crowded boat….. definitely not my cup of tea~~ but I made the most of it. The best part about those two dives – is, I got to go to two different dive sites that I have not been to yet. First one was called ‘End of the Line’ ( It is where the reef actually ends) – The second one was called ‘The Swirling Reef of Death’. Don’t panic Vera – it’s not no where near as bad as it sounds and actually turned out to be a site I like quite a bit.
I took two cameras with me today — My trusty little Go Pro and an old Sea Life camera that I found last night while looking for pieces to fix my Go Pro diving case. The dives were slow and calm enough – I got to take multiple shots of the same thing with BOTH cameras, so I could see the difference. I was hoping the Sea Life would be a fun surprise because it has a small flash on it. Nope~! Flash wasn’t strong enough and colors are really washed out because [I’m presuming] no red filter on it. My little Go Pro blew the Sea Life camera out of the water with picture quality…… but you have got lots of fun pictures to help me enjoy any way. I hung out after the dives to chat with club members that were on the dive with me, before heading back home for a shower and to get pictures up.
My Queen ran up to the store to pick up some munchie type material, as we have decided we are going to watch the Super Bowl this year. It will be the first football game I have watched in well over 2 years. I stopped watching them when that bunch of prima donnas started kneeling during the National Anthem. I’m not gonna go into that whole mess, cause I’ll just get pi$$ed and this will turn into a 1000 word rant…… so I’m gonna put up some pictures from today and enjoy the rest of the afternoon with my Queen and some snacks…… should go without saying, alcohol is [already] involved…………… 😉

Slept in just a tad after not getting into bed until almost 01:00 this morning. Didn’t get away from Blues until 10:30pm-ish and by the time we got home, made a bite to eat, got a shower and unwound a little bit – it was one in the morning. That gets harder to do the older we get….. Thankfully, the place wasn’t hopping as bad as expected and my sprints out to the supply shed was limited to only about a dozen. My Bride agreed to sit on the side lines until someone called for something (and to let me go burn one occasionally) and that also made my night a lot easier. Still it was a good turn out and all of the staff stayed as busy as they wanted to be.
Today was supposed to be a recovery day and for the most part I took it fairly easy. Although I wound up doing trash, which here, is quite a chore. Then because of hearing dripping water, I found out the A/C was FUBAR’d and leaking water everywhere. After slightly over an hour of taking the drain system apart and cleaning it – I think I have it fixed [knocking on wood]….. so not a completely lay around and do nothing day, but those are just some of life’s little difficulties you have to contend with.
I have a 2-tank dive scheduled in the morning. It is a club sanctioned dive, so it is not with the group I normally dive with, but feel like I ‘have’ to participate in these club dives, being a member of the club board. During the process of cleaning the drain system on the A/C – I some how manage to knock my camera holder off of the table and broke it. 🙁 DAMMIT Emmit~! Thankfully the camera was not in it. I think I may have an extra case – so I need to get off of here and see if I can get something put together for tomorrows dives. ( I got to be able to take pictures for you all~ So I’m outta here for tonight. More dive pictures from the 2 awesome dives the other day~!
Good Night Ya’ll # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # Thankx for stopping in~!
Sorry about missing last night……. after an AH-MAZING two dives yesterday, we went up to Blues to chat with the folks I was telling you about the day before. During the process, the Blues folks asked if we could work tonight as bar-backs. We were scheduled to work earlier in the week, then called off. Apparently later, the act decided they could get there and perform after all but we were never rescheduled to work. Of course we said yes, explained to our friends and immediately set into working. I had to cut out for a little bit to go see ‘Doc’ about my BP. Still not happy with it – she has made yet another change in meds – so I’ll see how that goes. I headed back to Blues and for the next 3 ½ hours – I humped beer and alcohol for the bartenders, making sure they always had cold beer ready to serve their customers. It wasn’t near as busy as I think they expected it to be – so I convinced my Queen to take a seat at the bar and relax while I did the job. She came around occasionally so I could go smoke a cigarette, which made it nice. Blue’s was open later than usual to accommodate the late arrival of the primary entertainment – so by the time we got the place shut down and cleaned up – it was almost 23:00 (11:00pm for all you civilians out there). Came home and swallowed up 4 egg salad sammiches because I hadn’t anything to eat after that entire very long day (yes, my own stupidity) and fell mostly promptly into bed. Hence, no blog or FB posts.
I started my day with two of the most amazing dives I have made in quite some time….. but don’t have the time or space to tell you about it today. We have to be back up at Blues here in a little bit for another night of bar-backing, only I suspect tonight will be much busier as the band tonight usually always has a huge draw. I’m hoping I can convince my Queen to sit out again and just relieve me as necessary, but we’ll see. For now I wanted to get something up here as I’m fairly sure I’m gonna be too tired to blog again tonight. Plus – I wanted to get you some of my newest pictures…..AWESOME diving~! For now………….
Good Night Ya’ll – – – – — – – – — – – — Thankx for stopping in~!
Slept in this morning…….08:00~ Woo-hooo~! A long day on the couch and a lot of alcohol will have that affect though I guess. Today was a bit like yesterday minus the 6 hours up at Blues getting pickled. Lots of couch time after my bride made me some pancakes I had a hankering for……. lots of Dexter as well. I did manage to take down the Christmas lights from the palm trees, pulled up the extension cords and got them cleaned up, so the day was not a total waste.
I have managed to get signed up for a couple of dives tomorrow morning [Yay] so I can restock my pictures for you. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon. Still trying to get my BP in check….. not going well so far – but I am actively working on it. Then we are supposed to meet the other two couples we are going sailing with up at Blues. We are going to discuss and finalize our bar and food options for the cruise next month. I’m sure I have mentioned it, we are doing a 7 day sail boat tour through the BVI (British Virgin Islands) at the end of next month. I feel kinda like a kid waiting for Christmas. It should be an awesome cruise. Basically nothing but swimming, snorkeling, eating and drinking for a full week while living aboard a 47′ sail boat. There will only be 6 of us. We are all friends here on the island, so it should be a blast. More about that as it gets closer. For now – I’m out…… a few more pictures I’m not sure if you’ve seen yet or not.
