Goin’ Deep~~

Up bright and early this morning after staying up a little later than planned finishing the latest series we were watching (Inventing Anna). Would have never thought I would enjoy a show like that, but I did, so was a little bit bummed to realize it was over…….. oh well…. plenty others out there to sort through. Anyhow, up early, batteries all bump charged and loaded, gear all loaded into the truck. Made me a small breakfast and was just finishing it up when my bride came out to join me….. We chatted a bit and had our coffee before it was time to go. Got to the marina, mid-island and got on board and got my gear all put together. Lots of activity going on as I found out we were putting in a new mooring on a rarely visited, but oh so desirable dive site called Vertigo. This is probably the deepest dive site that we have here. Not a site we bring tourists or inexperienced divers to. You can get in trouble real easy on this dive if you are not careful……. well, truth be told, you can get yourself in trouble on pretty much any dive if you’re not careful….. but this one is way easier to do it…… let’s just leave it at that. Easy to go past recreational limits on this dive, recreational limit being 130′.  I probably don’t need to elaborate much about this dive….. so I won’t….. but it is an amazing dive~! Not a lot of pictures from this one….. so guess I’ll just have to go back~~  😉  Second dive was at a trusty favorite site that almost always holds sharks and today was no exception. It not only held sharks…. they were friendly….. really friendly. How friendly you ask ??

THAT friendly~~!! I tried reaching out and ‘petting’ them a couple of times, they were that close. Remember me talking about ‘the shot’ I want….. my hand on the side of a shark as it goes by and getting a picture of it…….. Thought I had it today~! They are moving so incredibly fast, that doing that is a heckva lot harder to do than what you would think…… just touching one let alone getting my camera up fast enough for a shot when it happens. Maybe I need to work on just getting to ‘pet’ one and get comfortable doing that before I worry about the picture…….. The whole dive was a good one. We only had 4 guests on the dive, so getting their pictures was quick and easy, which left me lots of time to chase sharks and get good pictures for you all…….. Back out here (West end) tomorrow for yet another cruise ship. Really thought cruise ship divers would be a better source of tips, but the last load I dealt with, out of 12 divers I did not get one single damn dime……. cheap bas  …..#$%^&. Oh well, keep smiling and taking pictures…. it’s what I’ll do…… after all, not many people can say that have a retirement gig as sweet as this one……  😉

Good Night Y’all : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Thankx for stopping in~!

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
