A trip to the Dentist……. twice

Started my day ‘off’ yesterday with a small but hearty breakfast and then headed into mid island for a dentist appointment. I think I may have mentioned I lost a filling a couple of days ago and my poor ole tongue was about like hamburger from ‘fiddling’ with the now jagged gap in my tooth. Not sure why….. I guess a flash back to better times…… but I thought I would get in there….. get the filling replaced and be done with it…… aww hell no…… first – I was just flabbergasted that I got in as quick as I did (thankful for a cancellation) met “Doc” and actually kinda liked him…… have to get an x-ray first [[well of course you do….after being told they didn’t accept my insurance I was wanting to get this done as cheaply as I could]] – x-ray done…… nope, can’t refill it…. something-or-other disease, bone loss, yadda-yadda-yadda…… here are your options….. Dang Doc….. they all sound wicked expensive…… Yeah they are, but sorry… the best we can do for you. We should start by pulling that tooth though, that will give you ample time to make a decision without having to worry about the tooth creating it’s own issues. Crap…. how much is that??  About $350….. Ouch, do you offer a Senior Citizen or Military discount? Yes we do….. cool, I guess every little bit will help…..  When can you pull the tooth ? [[expecting a month or two out]] – We can do it tomorrow~! Crap… okay, put me down. SO….. done for the day (yesterday)… for a mere $147.00 (that’s including my whopping $6.00 Senior discount)……. The dive boat did not go out yesterday, so at least I didn’t miss any diving. Today I missed diving….. dammit Emmit~! Went back this morning to get the the tooth pulled….. nothing went according to plan this morning [[shocker]] but [the majority of]] the tooth was pulled. ‘Doc’ didn’t do it, which didn’t sit well with me either, a young lady who did a mediocre job at best….. but I finally left, with a small headache (from her using my forehead as a fulcrum point to pull the tooth) and a wad of gauze in my mouth…..After having both options explained… I think I’m just going to just let it go…… a minimum of $4k out of my pocket for either option….. to many other things I can do with that kind of money~! Walking out of the building I passed a hair salon with 2 workers and one customer….. perfect~! I went in and asked if they can do a military cut — polite young lady said she could probably figure it out if I helped her and would I like an appointment or have it done right now…. well right now would be just finer than frog hair… thank you very much. Once I explained I was holding a mostly blood soaked gauze in my mouth, she kept conversation to a minimum and went to work. It turned into a half hour gig (she stopped a couple of times to answer the phone – at my urging) – I wound up with a damn fine hair cut in a cool, friendly environment with decent parking (even if it is mid-island) Maybe a touch pricey at $30.00 but to me, well worth it.  So I crawled into my truck, with a swollen jaw, numb face, a small trickle of blood that was becoming thoroughly bothersome and I headed back home. I almost made it into my parking spot at the house before I ….. well, never mind….. let’s just say, I have now got the bleeding stopped, my jaw is back to normal size, the headache is gone and I have even managed a bite to eat and now having a drink [carefully] with my Queen. I have decided to sit out from diving tomorrow…… bleeding while underwater would probably not be a good thing…… you know…. with sharks and all….  and not really in the mood to push my luck this time  😉

Good Night Ya’ll~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thankx for stopping in~!

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
