A nice calm day off…… that almost killed me……

Well okay – it didn’t almost kill me….. but I gotta have a catchy title to help get your interest don’t I ??  My Bride started her first official ‘work’ day at Blues today – so she was up and gone by 08:30. I was supposed to be in at the shop by 9~ish and an 08:40 phone call confirmed that. I had a fairly busy day planned at the ATV yard, something to keep me busy while the ‘dude’ worked on the gate to the garage.  Dude showed up in true island fashion around 10:00-ish…… by then I had already soaked my shirt with sweat, because my tired old fat butt was out working in the sun light like I knew what I was doing……… so  I stopped and sauntered on over to provide what ever intel I thought he was going to need. I wound up having to go back over to my truck for a a tape measure for him…. what kind of contractor shows up to a job like that and doesn’t have a tape measure…? [ an island contractor-DUH]  He said he needed to gather a couple of things from the shop and he would be back…… and silly ole me – thought he meant like in the next hour or so…… BA-ha-Ha-ha……. I continued working in the yard until I got every single thing done I planned on getting done…..and because I was still waiting on dude….. then some. Tired of waiting on him – I finally went over and wrestled with the doors and got them open enough – I could get the machines out I wanted – got them over to the yard, all scrubbed up for another tour, then took them over and filled them with gas and re-parked them. Still no dude…… so I ”worked” on the bus for a little bit….. cleaning… checking oil and finding out some fun stuff about it. Still no dude. So I went back over to the yard and started prepping the building for a porch I am going to add as soon as I’m not working….. Got that done and ‘sub’ dude showed up and said DUDE would be there in 30 minutes or so…… that ‘or so’ on the island can mean 10 minutes or 10 hours…… Dammit Emmit~!  So I started cleaning inside the garage a little bit…. Dude finally shows up….. I ‘supervise’ for the next 45 minutes watching the most Sanford & Son looking outfit I have ever seen in real life do their thing. I even got to help….. even though I really didn’t want to – but it seemed like the thing to do at the time.

Almost an hour later…. dude and his cohorts were on their way….. gate fixed and mostly to my surprise – looks to be a really nice job… time will tell. I finally got to finish my  day by running several large bags of garbage to the dump, filling and rehanging gas container and finally moseying my tired, sweaty old butt to the house. My Queen showed up about 25 minutes behind me from her first day of work at Blues and didn’t seem to much worse for wear…… Gotta tell you….. this version of retired life sucks…… but it’s kinda of fun to be useful again….. Guess what we’re doing now  😉   More ATV tours for the next 3 days………….!

Good Night Ya’ll – – – – – – – – – – –  – –  — Thankx for stopping in~!

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
