God giveth…………He taketh away……….

Yesterday I was carrying on about the newest addition to our family — our 9th Grand child – Kinsley Ray, born to Jeni and Mike yesterday afternoon. I didn’t get to share a lot of photo’s because ‘Mom & Dad’ had not announced it to the ‘world’ yet, but we were ecstatic none the less, happy to welcome the gorgeous little girl  into our world. Up this morning waiting for the pages of Face Book to be populated with the big news. While waiting – I got a message from another family member…. he is technically a second cousin, but I have been “Uncle” Bill his entire life. Sad, sad news….. his Sister, Angela had passed away. She had been battling a variety of health issues – but none (to my knowledge) had ever been what I would have considered life threatening…… there are a whole lot of gaps in my information at this point, but all I know is that beautiful young lady is no longer with us now. Just turning 41 a little over a month ago, she was much too young to be leaving this world. Besides her Mother and Brother, she is also leaving a young Son and Daughter and a myriad of friends.  I have known her since she was just past a toddler….. I have always been ‘UB’ and she was Sweet Cheeks to me. She had a smile that could light up any room and an infectious laugh to go with it. Her Mom (my 1st. Cousin – has always been more like a Sister to me) My heart was breaking not to be ‘there’ to welcome our new Grand Daughter last night and even more so now – not to be able to be there to console my family in this time of loss…………………..

Rest in peace Sweet Cheeks~

Born in Germany as an Army brat - I moved permanently to the United States about the time I was ready to start school - Dad put to me to work when I turned 13 tearing off roofs and packing shingles.. I did that, DE tasseled corn and bucked hay all the way through high school. After graduation, moved down South for a year or so trying to figure what I wanted to do. Finally came home and joined the Air Force serving almost 5 years - which included a 3 year tour in Germany, where I met my Queen. Came home and started working as a roofer. Economy went to crap and I knew I would not be able to support my growing family the way I wanted to, so I pestered the HR department at General Electric until they hired me. A very quick almost 34 years, 4 Daughters and 9 Grandkids later - here I am .... waiting as patiently as I can, to start the next chapter of our life - romping around in the Caribbean Sea checking out the various islands that we have not been to yet. Holy $hit what a ride~!!!! ;-)
